What is a quality job?
Understanding what defines a 'quality' job is some of the most important information you can receive prior to having work done. This section will help insure you receive the highest quality work--- work that will last for many years to come! There are several factors to consider. First, Spray-Crete is installed by independent contractors. Use the link above to find the contractor nearest you. Once you decide which contractor to use make sure to ask for references, a list of work done in your local area. Take a moment to visit these areas and see first hand if the product and workmanship meet your expectations. This will allow you to see how truly durable Spray-CreteŽ is!
A quality job will have some basic elements:
- Installer(s) will mask off any areas that are subject to over spray
- An even distribution of color is fundamental, as well as a uniform appearance of the application pattern and texture
- no sealer drip marks on the edges of the job area
- Installer(s) will smooth all edges for the ultimate 'finished' look
Steps to a quality job
Selecting a Contractor:
- Currently licensed to operate
- Check references
- Get more than one bid or quote if possible, but remember that a low price doesn't always mean the best deal.
Making the Deal:
- Get a written contract that specifies the scope of the work, the price of the job and the plan for payment.
- Insist any verbal promises be written into the contract.
- Keep a copy of the contract.
- Understand the cancellation policy.
- Know the terms and conditions of all warranties. Know who is responsible in the event repairs are needed.
- Your signature on the contract indicates you have read and understand the terms and conditions of the contract.
Before Work Starts:
- Spray-CreteŽ is designed to adhere to existing, cured concrete surfaces of residential dwellings.
- For best results and full warranty coverage, any previous coatings should be removed.
- Turn off all sprinklers and sprinkler systems.
- Spray-CreteŽ works best on a clean substrate. Spray-Crete Systems recommends the removal of algae, mold and mildew with a chlorine solution as well as degreasing any areas of oil and grease. Some surfaces may require acid etching or roughing by mechanical means. After these measures, a thorough pressure washing with a minimum of 3000 psi is recommended.
- Remove plants, furniture and pets prior to the start of work. Trim back any vegetation in the work area.
- Communicate with the installer any special arrangements for access to the job (i.e. fences, gated communities, etc).
Work in Progress:
- Communicate with your contractor about a specific work schedule
- Review each day's work and communicate any questions or concerns to your contractor prior to the start of work the next day.
- Application of Spray-CreteŽ occurs in dry weather. Expect some delay on your job in times of inclement weather.
- Each product used in the Spray-CreteŽ system is labeled with a Spray-Crete label. Be alert to what product is being used on your job.
- Keep pets, children and others off the treated area until work is complete and application has cured (usually 72 hours).
At Job's End:Payments, Maintenance and Warranties
- The Spray-CreteŽ system uses water borne surfactants. Some sudsing may occur the first few times the "creted" area encounters moisture. This is a normal occurrence.
- A complete job is a clean job. All buckets and tools should be removed by the contractor.
- Receive written instructions for maintenance of your Spray-CreteŽ area.
- Receive the Spray-Crete Systems Limited 5 Year Pro-Rated Warranty. Make sure all information is filled in. Mail the completed form to us as indicated, keeping the yellow copy for yourself (please note that not all applications carry the warranty).
Review the completed job with your installer prior to final payment.
